Good decision to avoid conflict between nations

I chose Asiana Airlines for the flights from Tokyo to Seattle (via Incheon, S. Korea) and back flights from Seattle to Tokyo.
While I was sitting on the seat of an airplane, the letters “Yellow Sea” was displayed on the flight progress map. But neither “East Sea” nor “Japan sea” was displayed on the map. I evaluate this measure of Asiana Airlines as very good decision to avoid conflict between two nations.
In addition, meals of Asiana Airlines were very good so that they made me want to eat also my next trip overseas. I definitely choose this Airline company rather than choose Jal or Delta.

View from VIA Rail Train

There is a railway that go across Canada from East end to West end, its name is VIA Rail Train. This time, I got onboard the train at Edmonton and the destination was Vancouver.
Of course, it was not so comfortable to stay at an economy seat more than 30 hours; but it was much more interesting than I had expected, seeing beautiful mountains and lakes some of which are covered with white snow.

ガラホを海外で使う

いまではガラ携を使っている人は、若い世代ではほとんど皆無であろう。皆スマホを使ってるわけだが、スマホの機能を部分的に兼ねた「ガラホ」と呼ばれる携帯がある。このガラホであるが、海外へ出かけるときには案外便利に使えるのである。
スマホもそうであろうが、ガラホは滞在している地域に合わせて自動的に日時を切り替えてくれる。大切なのはローミング (roaming) の機能はオフにしておくことで、オンになってると後から膨大な額の請求がくることにもなりかねない。

通話機能であるが、現地で現地の電話番号へ電話する場合には +1(国番号) は不要であった。日本の My AUというサイトで昨日までの携帯の通話料をパソコンで確認したときには、２段階認証のためのSMSをガラホで受信できた。現地で行動予定を組むためには、やはり下調べのためにネットへの接続が必要なのであるが、ホテルやスタバなどの無料wifiを使用すれば問題はない。

スマホと違ってガラホには、ふたつ折りで落下などの衝撃に強いという特性もあり、ポケットに収まるという利点もある。スマホがなくとも携帯の電話番号さえあれば、LINEというアプリもパソコンで利用できる。
では、海外で道に迷ったらどうすればよいか。簡単である。人に尋ねればよいのであり、英語が通じる地域ならば問題ないはずである。(何しろ日本では最短でも６年間英語を習っているのであるから。)

At the Stadium in Seattle

Taking Link Light Rail(way), I went to see the Sefeco Field stadium in Seattle. It was not opened today but I found several photos related to Mariners. Do you remember this man?

First Day in Seattle

If Japanese yen is not so weak a it is now, prices of commodity goods is not so high as I expected: a small-sized nail clipper was less than 3 dollars, two of long-sized water bottle was just $3.00 plus ten percent of tax.
But eating in a Deny’s restaurant gave a little bit of damage on my budget. One set of omelette and coffee was $21.33 including tax, besides I was required to give tip for that I expended $2.00. Breakfast is included in the payment amount for my staying hotel, so I am looking for cheaper lunch and supper. Fortunately, to the SeaTac Airport the distance is walkable and I can save money before riding trains there.

Boarding a connecting flight of Asiana Airlines, I came to Seattle. After having left Narita Airport on March 10, I stayed one night in Incheon, S. Korea. I cannot understand Korean language almost at all; but thanks for the people who speak English, I managed to do check-in my booked hotel.

It was so nice that I chose Asiana Airlines for my trip: reasonable price, good quality of food and services and well-mannered passengers. Only difference from that we fly directly to North America is that we need to understand Korean or English in some sufficient level. If you choose Japan Airlines or ANA, you can go directly to USA or Canada; but also in such case you need to use English after arriving these countries.
